Thank you for your interest in East Toll Holiday Cottage. Unfortunately East Toll will cease to be availabe for self catering holidays from January, 2008.
I would like to thank everyone who has had a holiday at East Toll, especially visitors who have returned many times.
- Wilma Milne, 11th November 2007.
East Toll is a comfortable two bedroom cottage centrally situated in the village of Aboyne in the heart of Royal Deeside, which is midway between Aberdeen and Braemar. The holiday cottage is privately owned and run by Mrs Wilma Milne. You may rent the cottage between the months of March and October. Bookings and enquiries can be made either by telephone or via electronic mail.
The main part of the cottage was built around 1790 as a Toll House. The purpose of the Toll House was to ensure visitors paid to enter Aboyne from the Easterly side of the village. As such, the shape of the house is unusual and full of character. Because of this and its age it is a Grade B listed building and protected by building preservation legislation.
Accommodation is comfortable and consists of a sitting room with television and coal effect electric fire, double bedroom with double bed, another double bedroom with two single beds, a modern kitchen that is fitted with Schreiber units, fridge, cooker and microwave, and the family bathroom, which has an integrated shower over the bath. There is also a small sun porch that looks onto the well stocked, private walled gardens.
Each room has night storage heaters and fitted carpets. Electricity for the night storage heating, bed linen and towels are included in the price. Other electricity is by £1 coin meter which is set at the lowest possible rate. There is car parking and other amenities close by.
